Acceptable use
This is what you may not do on Sarx. It applies to everyone who uses it — the early-access list, the app when it opens, and the venues that host dates — and it is part of the terms. Breaking it ends your account; some of it we also report.
Age
Sarx is for currently enrolled college students who are eighteen or older. We verify a campus email address before an account can be used, and an account that turns out to belong to anyone under eighteen is closed. Nobody may use Sarx to contact, meet, solicit or sexualise a minor, and an attempt to is reported.
Illegal acts
You may not use Sarx to do, plan, arrange or advertise anything that is illegal where you are or where the person you are talking to is. That includes buying or selling drugs or weapons, fraud, and any offence against a person.
Trafficking and commercial sex
Facilitating human trafficking or sex trafficking in any form — recruiting, transporting, advertising, arranging, coercing, or profiting from it — is forbidden, as is arranging, offering or paying for commercial sexual services. Any of these ends the account at once and is reported to law enforcement.
Sexual content and consent
No sexually explicit profile content. Photographs, names and the lines on a profile or a venue card may not be sexually explicit, and may not be used to offer or request sex.
No child sexual exploitation or abuse. Content that sexualises a minor, in any form, is removed, the account is closed, and it is reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and to law enforcement. There is no warning and no appeal.
No sexual violence. Sexual violence, threats of it, coercion, and content that depicts, glorifies or encourages it are forbidden.
No non-consensual content. Intimate images or details of any person shared without their consent — including people who are not on Sarx — are forbidden, whether real, altered or generated.
Scams and fraud
You may not use Sarx to defraud anyone. That means no asking a match for money, gifts, card details, bank details or investments; no impersonating another person, a business or Sarx; no links to phishing pages or malware; and no scheme that uses a date, a match or a venue as bait.
Harassment and abuse
No threats, harassment, stalking, intimidation or hate towards anyone, and no aiding, abetting or encouraging the abuse of anyone — in the app, on a date, or anywhere else. A no does not need explaining, and continuing to contact somebody after it is harassment.
One real account
One account per person, under your own name, with your own recent photographs. No fake accounts, no accounts run by software, no impersonation, and no selling or transferring an account. Fabricated signups to the list are removed along with any place they earned.
Venues
Every rule above applies to a venue and its staff, on the night as much as online. A venue may not use what it learns about a couple for anything but serving them that evening.
How this is enforced
Reports are read by a person and acted on. Depending on what happened, that means content removed, a warning, a cooldown, or the account ended — for a venue, removal from the set of places a match can be sent. Where the law requires or permits it, we preserve what we hold and pass it to law enforcement.
Reporting something
Report a person, a message or a venue from inside the app, or write to us. Say what happened; you do not have to say why it matters.
Changes
We may change this policy. The version on this page is the one in force, and a change that tightens it takes effect when it is published.
